Maple Glazed Carrot Recipe

The first time I made these sweet, tender glazed carrots for a holiday meal, all I was expecting was a pretty dish for the table. Instead, my family was instantly hooked! Nowadays, you'll never find me without a bag of carrots ready to glaze!

And best yet, they're so easy. All it takes is one pan to make this recipe for maple glazed carrots, and you're all set. Plus, these carrots cook on the stove top, leaving the oven free for the main course! Or, why not use the free space for some crispy-soft Yorkshire Puddings or Mushroom Stuffing?

Give is easy glazed carrots recipe a try for supper, and I just know you'll fall in love too!

Glazed Maple Carrots Ingredients

  • Butter
  • Carrots (baby or whole)
  • Brown sugar
  • Maple syrup
  • Salt
  • Black pepper
  • Parsley (optional)

What brings these maple glazed carrots together is the brown sugar. It candies them to perfection! Glazed carrots with brown sugar are so sweet and tasty, you won't want to leave a single one on the plate.

How To Make Glazed Carrots

  1. Slice your carrots lengthwise, then melt butter in a large skillet. When the butter is melted, add in the carrots, brown sugar, maple syrup, salt, and pepper, mixing it all together in the pan.

Recipes for Glazed Carrots Tips

  • You can use baby carrots or full-size carrots for this dish! I prefer whole carrots as baby carrots can be made from old carrots and thus can be harder and less flavorful.
  • If using baby carrots, you may need to cook them longer to get them nice and tender!
  • For even less prep time, skip peeling the carrots, and just give them a good scrub!
  • This glazed carrot recipe is perfect for adding in your favorite fall spices! I love adding a sprinkle of cinnamon and a pinch of orange zest for a truly special autumn treat.

Glazed Carrots in Oven

If you prefer, you can make glazed carrots in the oven, instead. Glazed carrots roasted taste incredible! The flavor really shines when roasting carrots with a glaze. Here's how to glaze carrots in the oven:

  1. Preheat oven to 425°F.
  2. Peel and slice carrots lengthwise. Or, leave them unpeeled, but scrub to wash, then slice.
  3. Melt butter in the microwave, then add it to a bowl with brown sugar, maple syrup, salt, and pepper. Mix together.
  4. Toss the carrots in the glaze mixture to fully coat.
  5. Cover a baking sheet with parchment paper. Evenly spread the glazed carrots on the sheet.
  6. Bake for 25-30 minutes, mixing them around halfway through to make sure they are coated with the glaze on all sides. When they're ready, they will be caramelized and soft.
  7. Top with chopped parsley if using, serve, and enjoy!

Glazed Carrots Recipes FAQs

Can you make glazed carrots ahead?

While glazed carrots are best right off the stove, they can be made ahead and stored in an airtight container for 3-4 days. Just make sure to reheat them in a skillet to melt the butter glaze and get that caramelized crisp again!

Do I need to peel carrots?

Peeling carrots makes them look very clean, and gets rid of the thin skin that adds a slightly different texture to carrots. However, peeling them isn't necessary! Just make sure to scrub them well. I've found I love the added chew and natural look!

Do baby carrots work as well as whole carrots?

Baby carrots are extra convenient for this recipe, as you only need to slice the largest ones! I use them interchangeably but prefer whole carrots when I can get them.
