Best Cauliflower Rice Recipe

I love cauliflower, don't you? It's one of my favorite ingredients to serve my family, from enjoying it roasted on its own with olive oil and a little seasoning, to making mashed cauliflower and, of course, cauliflower rice.

Cauliflower makes a great main dish and is one of the best side dishes you can serve. There is so much it pairs with, especially depending on the preparation you choose. Just like regular rice, cauliflower rice pairs perfectly with just about anything you want to serve it with.

My recipe for cauliflower rice takes the classic preparation and makes it even more delicious by adding turmeric and other simple ingredients to spice it up! I guarantee you are going to love this keto turmeric rice for pairing with everything from chicken and beef to fish and more.

What is cauliflower rice?

Cauliflower rice is, simply, riced cauliflower. You add the cauliflower to a food processor to create a finely chopped texture resembling rice, then cook it in a pan with the seasonings and vegetables of your choice.

As a substitute for rice, cauliflower rice is low carb and wholesome. In fact, according to Healthline (The Top 8 Health Benefits of Cauliflower), cauliflower contains a little of almost every mineral and vitamin you need.

What is turmeric rice?

Turmeric rice is rice that has turmeric added to it during the cooking process. Turmeric cauliflower rice is the same idea, using cauliflower rice instead of regular rice for a low carb option.

Turmeric itself is related to ginger, and is known for being an anti-inflammatory (see Why is Turmeric Good for Me? from WebMD). Add it to cauliflower rice, and you have an incredibly wholesome combination perfect for preparing a nutritious meal.

Recipe Tips

  • When pulsing your cauliflower, try to work in batches keeping the cauliflower more or less the same size.
  • Let your cauliflower dry thoroughly after washing it before cooking.
  • If you don't have a food processor, use a large hole cheese grater or sharp knife to finely chop your cauliflower.

About 3 minutes or so over medium heat with just a bit of oil is enough to cook your riced cauliflower. Do not cook it for too long or with too much oil, or you risk it will become soggy.
